The current Access database includes all data collected from 1990-2003. It includes data for 96 species (Table 2) and can be queried based on species (common name or scientific name) and month (January through December). All data in the dataset are presented as catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) for each station, each month. Since only one trawl was taken from each station per month (effort = 1), no calculations were necessary to obtain CPUE. A total average was also calculated and included in the dataset by averaging the CPUE at each station over all the years of the study. This column will thus display a 'typical' abundance for the species in question during the month selected.
All data in the Access database were taken directly from spreadsheets provided by Tim Lynch, and no changes were made to the naming conventions of any species in order to maintain compatibility with the original dataset. As such, there are some invertebrate species (e.g., horseshoe crab, sea scallop) where only the common name was provided and scientific names were left blank (e.g., horseshoe crab, sea scallop), or denoted by a "?" (e.g., striped snail). Thus, querying for these species is only possible using the common names.
